Saw a shop in Akron running a 1987 Mori Seiki with zero guards and it freaked me out
Stopped at a job shop outside Akron on a parts run and the operator was running a 1987 Mori Seiki lathe with the door switch bypassed and chips flying everywhere. I said something to him and he just shrugged and pointed at his 22 years on the machine. Anyone else walked into a shop like that and not known what to say?
Buddy of mine worked at a place in Canton where the old timer ran a Bridgeport with the belt guard missing for years. New safety guy comes in, says something, gets the same shrug. Two weeks later the guy's sleeve caught the spindle and it wrapped him up pretty bad. Sometimes the years just make them cocky.
