Saw a whole wall of old CNC manuals at the tool auction in Springfield
I was at the big industrial auction in Springfield last weekend, you know, the one they hold every fall. They had a whole pallet of old CNC manuals from the 80s and 90s, like for Bridgeports and old Fanuc controls, just sitting there. It got me thinking about how much of that old paper knowledge is just getting tossed now that everything's online (or supposed to be). I found a manual for a machine I ran back in '99, and the troubleshooting section was way more detailed than the PDF I downloaded last year. Has anyone else found those old paper manuals to be more useful for certain things, or is it just nostalgia?

My 2008 car manual is basically a doorstop now.
