Shoutout to the night guy at the plant who showed me why my finish pass kept chattering
Last Tuesday around 11pm I was running a batch of 200 aluminum brackets on the old Haas and the finish pass started chattering so bad I had to hit feed hold. I checked the tool holder, re-torqued everything, even swapped in a brand new end mill and it still sounded like a dying cat. The night shift guy wandered over, listened for about 3 seconds, and said "your coolant's hitting the part, not the cutter." I moved the nozzle 2 inches and the chatter was gone. Turns out I'd been fighting that same problem on and off for about 6 months and blaming the machine. Anyone else got a fix that was stupid simple in hindsight?
