Stopped using a center drill for every spot and my setup time dropped 20%

Switched to a solid carbide spotting drill after a job in Dallas needed 300 holes, because the boss said 'time is money'. Anyone else ditch old habits for a faster feed rate?

Spot drills are a game changer for production work. They last longer and handle higher feeds without walking. Boss was right, time really is money.

Totally get that. Watched a guy on our floor fight a regular drill for an hour on some stainless parts. Kept chipping, kept walking. Switched to a spot drill and ran the whole batch without a single stop. The difference in cycle time was crazy, like cutting it in half. Sometimes the simple tool change makes all the difference.
