That feeling when you catch a toolpath error before it hits the part

I was running a batch of 50 aluminum brackets on our old Haas VF2, and the program called for a 3/8 end mill but the tool data page still had the old 1/2 inch from the last job. I caught it during the dry run because the finish pass sounded way too light, so I stopped and checked the offsets. What's the weirdest way you've ever caught a mistake in the program?

My weirdest catch was when the coolant smelled like burnt plastic. Turns out the program forgot to turn on the spindle.

That coolant smell @averys52 described is a new fear unlocked.

Wait, the spindle was just off the whole time? Honestly that's wild, how does a machine even run without that turning on? Tbh I'd be freaking out if I smelled plastic burning near any kind of coolant. That's a sure sign something is seriously wrong. Ngl I would have guessed a wiring meltdown or something way worse. Makes you realize how much we trust these programs to do the basic stuff.
