Why does nobody talk about the spindle warm up biting you on a Monday morning
Walked into the shop in Tulsa at 5:50am Monday, fired up the VF2 and started cutting aluminum right away like an idiot, no warm up cycle. About 40 minutes in the finish pass on a $600 batch of parts started coming out .003 undersize on the bores, and I watched two of them get scrapped before I caught it. I pulled the program, ran the spindle at 3000 rpm for 15 minutes to let it settle, re-zeroed my tool offsets and the next parts checked dead on. Now I want to know, do you guys actually run a warm up routine, or just send it and trust your first part check to catch it?
Honestly been there with the Monday morning bite, cost me a batch of bores too. What fixed it for me was throwing a 10 minute warm up in MDI before touching anything, spindle at like 2000 then work up. Cheaper than scrapping parts, that's for sure.
