Man that's exactly the kind of fix I love finding! I had a similar thing happen a few years back with a float clearing issue on an old site. Turns out adding "overflow: hidden" to the parent container sorted the whole thing out in like 30 seconds. I spent hours before that trying every modern flexbox and grid trick and nothing worked. Sometimes the simple old school stuff is just what you need when newer methods break things. It's funny how those old tricks still save the day.

@ivangrant "sometimes the simple old school stuff is just what you need" - I feel that so hard, had a site break recently and fixed it with a plain float left, felt like a genius.
