Shoutout to the free Python course I started in 2020

Three years ago, I was stuck in a dead-end job in Omaha and decided to learn to code with a free online course. Last month, I finally finished my first freelance web app for a local bakery, and it felt like a real win. What was the first project that made you feel like a real coder?

Agreed, and @sanchez.robin has the right idea.

Man that second time through is where the real magic happens, isn't it? It's like when I finally figured out how to organize my recipe box after years of just tossing random clippings in there. The first time you just throw stuff together and hope it works, but going back to rebuild things from scratch forces you to actually understand why each piece matters. Same with learning to meal prep or setting up a budget spreadsheet. You might stumble through the first version, but the second time you know the pitfalls and can make it way cleaner. Have you found yourself applying that same rebuild approach in other areas of your life too?

Nice! That bakery app is huge. My first real win was a dumb script that sorted my downloads folder. Sounds simple but making something that actually works changes everything. My advice? Take that bakery app and rebuild it from scratch without looking at your old code. You'll learn twice as much the second time through.
