Finally fixed my drip tray mold after 6 months of fighting it

I've got this old espresso machine from 2014 that I got off Craigslist in Portland, and the drip tray kept growing this black mold in the corners no matter what I did. I tried vinegar soaks, baking soda scrubs, even boiling water, but it always came back within a week. Turns out the plastic tray had tiny micro-cracks from years of thermal stress, and the mold was living inside them. I only figured it out after I borrowed a jeweler's loupe from a buddy and stared at it for like 20 minutes. Replacement tray cost me $34 shipped, and it's been clean for 2 months now. Has anyone else dealt with mold hiding in scratched or cracked plastic parts that just won't die?
