That barista's smug pour-over comment still grinds my gears

Stopped at a new shop off I-80 in Des Moines last Tuesday, and the guy behind the counter watched me order a 12 oz drip and goes 'oh, you don't want to try the single origin pour over? It's the only way to really taste the beans.' I mean, I get it, he's into his craft, but I've been drinking coffee for 25 years and sometimes I just want a big cup of something decent while I'm trying to figure out why my truck's check engine light is blinking. He made me feel like I was doing it wrong, like my diner coffee habit was some kind of personal failure. Maybe it's just me, but that gatekeeping vibe makes me want to drink instant coffee out of spite. I've tried pour overs at home, spent $40 on a gooseneck kettle, and yeah it's fine, but it's not worth the ritual every single morning. Anyone else get talked down to for just liking regular coffee without the whole performance?

Is it really that deep though? The guy probably says that to everyone who orders drip, it's just his little script he runs a hundred times a day. I've had baristas try to upsell me on fancier stuff too, but I just shrug and say "next time" and that's the end of it. Sounds like you let one guy's five second comment wreck your whole morning when you could've just laughed it off and drank your coffee.
