That roastery cafe in Portland messed up my whole morning routine
I stopped by Crema Coffee on Ankeny last Saturday and watched them pour a batch from a 2 hour old carafe. The barista said they reuse grounds if the first extraction looks light and that changed how I order now. Anyone else start asking for a fresh pour before you see them hit the grinder?

Drove past Portland last month and stopped at a place that did the same thing to me. Watched them dump old coffee into a new cup like it was no big deal. I asked for a fresh batch and the guy rolled his eyes. Now I always stand at the counter and wait until I see them grind beans before I even order. It's awkward but at least I get decent coffee.

Stand outside the shop and time how long it takes someone to order before you walk in. I did that at a place in Bend once and waited 12 minutes. Finally went in, ordered, and watched the kid pour from the same burned pot that had been sitting there since before I got there. So now I just bring instant coffee packets and ask for hot water. It tastes better than whatever they're serving and nobody rolls their eyes at me.
