Was sure I hated pour over till my buddy made me try his $25 setup

I spent years thinking pour over coffee was just weak and fussy. Always went for my $200 drip machine or a French press. Then my friend Dave brought his $25 plastic Hario V60 over to my place last Saturday. He showed me how he uses a gooseneck kettle and pours in circles instead of dumping water all at once. The coffee came out super clean and actually sweet, not bitter at all. I ordered the same V60 and a $15 kettle from Target the next day. Total cost was under $50 and I haven't touched my drip machine in a week. Anyone else switch from something expensive to something cheap and simple?

Honestly, it's just coffee at the end of the day. A plastic cone and a cheap kettle aren't going to change your life or anything, it's still just hot water through grounds. People act like finding the right pourover method is some kind of revelation, but it's really just a different way to get a cup of joe.

Dave's $25 V60 changed my mind too. I was all in on a fancy Bonavita machine. Thought cheap plastic couldn't make good coffee. But that first cup he poured was so clean and smooth. No bitterness at all. I got the same setup next day. Now I actually look forward to the morning ritual.
