A guy at the Charlotte meetup told me to stop recommending 12 groups and just pick 3, he was right
Last year I was the guy who kept a running list of 47 local groups to recommend to new folks in my area, and I was proud of it. Then a guy named Darryl at a Charlotte meetup grabbed my list, laughed, and said nobody can use 47, tell them 3 and tell them why. I ignored him for about 4 months. Then I watched 9 people in a row ask me the same question about where to start, and not one of them ever came back to say they tried anything off my list. So I cut it down to 3 groups, wrote one line on each about who it fits, and within 6 weeks 5 people told me they actually showed up somewhere. Turns out a long list feels helpful to the person making it and does nothing for the person reading it. What is your number where a recommendation list gets too long to be useful, 3, 5, 10?
