Am I the only one whose neighborhood recommendation list got hijacked by one loud person with a fence company cousin?
Our street has a shared list of plumbers, sitters, and handymen we all pass around, and it worked great for 2 years. Then at the August block party in Lexington one guy kept pushing his cousin's fencing crew on everyone, and by October 6 of the 11 names on our list were just that one family. I finally made a clean copy and added a rule that nobody can recommend kin without saying so up front in the note. Six neighbors have already asked me for the new version. Has anyone else had to boot a pusher from their community list, and did you let them back in?

That totally sucks, one pushy person can wreck a good thing for everybody so fast. Your rule about calling out family up front is smart, keeps it fair without banning anyone. I'd let him back in but only after he proves he can chill and not spam the list again.
