I tried asking my city's subreddit for a plumber vs asking the Facebook neighborhood group, and the difference was wild
Honestly I needed a plumber for a slab leak in my house in Riverside and figured the big subreddit would have better answers. I got 40 replies in a day, but half were jokes and the other half were people just naming companies with no real info. Then I posted the same question in my neighborhood Facebook group and got 6 replies, all from people who actually used the guy, plus one lady sent me a photo of his van and his license number. The subreddit gave me volume, the neighborhood group gave me trust, and the plumber they picked charged $180 less than the first quote I got. Has anyone else noticed small local groups beat big forums for real recommendations, or is that just my area?
