Went from 2 replies to 31 on my rec posts after one small change
I run a small board for local plant swaps and my weekly rec thread used to get 2 replies at best. Last month I added a line asking people to name the town they're in plus one thing they'd trade, and the thread hit 31 replies in 3 days. Is a plain ask to localize every post too much, or should I just make it a rule up front?
Just make it a rule. You already found the thing that works, so don't get shy about it now. People want to know who's local and what's up for grabs before they bother typing a reply. A plain ask in the post plus a rule at the top keeps everyone on the same page. Two replies to 31 is a big jump, so I'd lock that in and never look back.
