A network engineer told me to ditch my 20 foot ethernet cable and go with a 10 footer instead
He said the shorter run cuts down on signal loss and I didn't believe him until I ran a speed test and my ping dropped by 15ms. Has anyone else seen that kind of difference with shorter cables?

Hold up on that ping drop being from the cable length. Signal loss over 20 feet of ethernet is basically nothing unless you're running some really old or damaged cable. The 15ms improvement is more likely from reseating the connectors or maybe a bad crimp on the original cable rather than the length itself.

Wait, so you're saying my old cable theory was wrong? Yeah that actually makes way more sense now lol.
