Cleaning out my old toolbox and found a receipt for a 20GB IDE hard drive from 2004
I was sorting through a box of old cables and adapters in my garage last weekend and this faded receipt fell out. It was from a local computer parts store that closed a decade ago. The receipt shows I paid $89 for a brand new Western Digital drive, which seemed like a huge amount of space back then. Now my phone holds more data, it just made me laugh. Anyone else find old tech receipts that feel like ancient history?

That 56k modem receipt got me. I had one of those and the sound it made is burned into my brain. It was like a robot screaming into a tin can while dialing a phone. I remember having to tell everyone in the house not to pick up the landline or the connection would drop. The idea of waiting minutes just to load a single picture online now seems completely wild.
