Diagnostic boot drives are lying to you if you skip the RAM test

Been seeing techs pop a USB boot drive in and jump straight to the hard drive scan, but I caught a bad stick of RAM yesterday that showed up as a disk error on two different machines. The 5 minute memtest pass found it right away, saved me from replacing a good SSD. How many of you actually run the memory check before blaming the drive?
