Got burned by a bad tip from a forum guru on motherboard caps
Some guy named TechDude2020 on a repair forum told me to replace bulging capacitors with any cheap caps from Amazon. I did that on a Dell Optiplex 7010 last month and the board smoked after 20 minutes. Turns out he forgot to mention ESR ratings matter a ton. Has anyone else had a bad tip from those forum geniuses cost them time and money?
