I finally saw a weird power supply issue in a Dell Optiplex 9020 last Tuesday

The machine would boot for exactly 17 seconds then hard shut off, but only when the side panel was on. With it off, it ran fine for hours. I traced it to a short where the panel was pressing a capacitor on the PSU board. Has anyone else run into a Dell with a pressure-sensitive short like this?

Sounds like a fluke, honestly. Could just be a loose connection that got fixed when you moved the panel.
