I quit saying 'BSOD' after a customer thought it was a bad word.

So I read a blog post once where someone said their grandma thought 'BSOD' was a swear word. It's crazy how these tech acronyms sound like bad words to people who aren't in the know. The post talked about how common it is for customers to get confused by jargon. I mean, 'BSOD' does sound a bit harsh if you don't know it stands for Blue Screen of Death. It makes total sense to stop using it with clients. Stuff like that just shows how important it is to use simple words.

Every field's acronyms do this.

Totally agree with dropping the jargon. BSOD sounds like you're cussing out a client even though it's just tech talk. It's lazy to assume everyone knows your field's shorthand. Clear communication should be the default, not an afterthought. Makes everyone's life easier.
