Just spent $80 on a 'diagnostic' tool that turned out to be a fancy flashlight

My cousin bought a "smart" tire gauge that needed an app and a subscription. It was basically a dumb gauge with extra steps and a monthly fee. The box made it look like it could predict the weather. Sometimes the fanciest packaging just hides the most basic stuff.

Tell me about it. I bought a "laser level" last year that was just a regular bubble level with a single red LED taped to the side. The marketing made it sound like it could map out a whole room. Felt like a total sucker.
