Rant: I saw a public library computer lab with the WORST cable management I've ever seen in my life

My buddy works IT for a school district and he sent me a picture last week of the wiring closet at one of the elementary schools. It looked like a bunch of snakes had a fight in there and then gave up. He said it took him and another guy a full day just to trace a single bad cable, pulling on one cord and watching three monitors across the room flicker. That kind of mess just makes every small problem into a huge headache.

Oh man, @loganprice, that "snakes had a fight" line is perfect. I had to deal with a server room like that at my old job. Every time we needed to unplug something, it was a guessing game. I once shut down the whole sales floor because I pulled the wrong network cable. Took hours to find the right one in that rat's nest. It's crazy how one messy closet can waste so much time.

Did you ever find a way to make them label things after that, or did management just not care enough to enforce it?
