Shoutout to the guy at Best Buy who told me to 'just restart it' about 15 times before I listened
I was complaining to a buddy about a weird network issue where my work laptop would drop connection every 12 minutes on the dot, and he just shrugged and said 'did you restart the router and the modem separately and in that order.' Turns out I'd been resetting them together for 4 years like an idiot. Has anyone else had a simple fix they swore wouldn't work that totally solved the problem?

My dad once spent three hours trying to fix his printer because it kept saying "out of paper" when it was clearly full. Turns out he had a piece of packing tape covering the sensor on the tray. He almost drove it to a repair shop before my mom walked over and peeled the tape off. Now he checks for tape on everything first, which is kind of funny but also smart. Always trust the simple stuff before you go full nuclear on your devices.
