That driver update took me 8 hours on a simple printer install

Got a call about a HP LaserJet that wouldn't scan to email on a small office network. Tried the usual driver reinstall, checked the firewall, even swapped the ethernet cable. After 4 hours I figure out the latest Windows update broke the HP driver completely. Had to roll back three different system updates before it worked. Anyone else had a simple job turn into a whole day mess because of a bad update?

Yeah that's brutal. Had the exact same thing happen with a Canon multifunction last month. Spent six hours chasing ghosts until I realized the printer's scan utility just wasn't compatible with the latest cumulative patch. Sometimes you just gotta accept that Windows is gonna screw you no matter how careful you are with the simple stuff.

Did Tyler ever try rolling back that cumulative patch to see if it fixes the scan utility, or is that a total crapshoot with Windows?
