The moment I realized labeling is a complete joke

I was at a client's office in Minneapolis last month and saw 47 unlabeled ethernet cables hanging out of a patch panel. Took me 3 hours with a toner to figure out which one went to the CEO's computer. Has anyone else dealt with a rat's nest like that?

That "47 unlabeled cables" line hit home. It's the same everywhere you look these days. Nobody wants to take the five extra minutes to do the simple stuff right, so everyone else has to spend hours cleaning up their mess. I've noticed this pattern in everything from construction sites to grocery store aisles. People just slap things together with zero thought for the next person who has to deal with it. If everyone spent a little more time thinking ahead, the world would run a whole lot smoother.

But why didn't you just label them yourself right then? Like grab a sharpie and go. Seems like that would save everyone the headache next time.
