Back in June a foreman told me my edges looked like garbage, so I finally learned to use a magnesium float

He walked over and said 'you're burnishing it instead of finishing it' and showed me how to float at a flatter angle. Has anyone else gotten roasted by an old head on a job site and actually fixed a bad habit because of it?

Old heads are right about half the time and just cranky the other half though. Maybe your edges were fine and he just needed someone to yell at before lunch.

Nah I gotta disagree on this one. A good foreman isn't gonna waste his time roasting someone for no reason especially if he actually took the time to show you the right way to do it. That's the difference between a cranky old head and one who actually cares about the work. If your edges were really fine he would've just walked past and mumbled something under his breath instead of teaching you something. Sounds like you got a solid tip that'll save you time and material in the long run.
