Bought a $200 laser level for a big garage pour last month...

It cut my screed time in half and the floor came out dead flat. I was worried it was a gimmick, but it paid for itself on that one job. What's the best tool you've bought that actually lived up to the hype?

My old man's $40 water level from the 90s still beats any laser I've used. Lasers drift in heat and the batteries always die. Sometimes the simple tool is just better.

Wait, your dad's water level still works after 30 years? That's wild, @hollym12! Those things are built like tanks.

Come on, that old water level is just nostalgia goggles. Lasers have come a long way in 30 years, a decent one holds calibration way better than a rubber hose full of water that can freeze or leak. And batteries? Grab a pack of AAs for like three bucks, that lasts months if you turn it off. Plus a laser levels itself, you don't have to hold one end up while your dad yells at you about the bubble. Sometimes "old reliable" is just "old and annoying.
