Can we talk about the difference a power trowel blade change made on a 4000 sq ft slab?

We poured a warehouse floor last month and the first half looked good, but had a bit of a rough finish. The second half we swapped from the old, worn blades on our power trowel to a fresh set of 24 inch float blades. The shine and smoothness on that second half was night and day, no joke. It cut our hand trowel time by almost an hour because the machine did more of the work. I think we waited too long to change them out on the first section. How often do you guys actually change your blades versus just running them until they're totally shot?

Is it really that big of a difference, or did the concrete just set up better for the second half?
