Caught a crew using a power trowel on wet slab too early, what a mess

Watched a guy run a power trowel over fresh pour in Phoenix last Tuesday before it was ready, left ridges everywhere and we had to grind it flat. Anyone else seen this shortcut backfire or is it just a rookie thing?

Did your buddy check the weather before they poured? My friend ran a crew in Vegas last summer and they did the same thing on a hot day, figured the slab would set faster so they jumped on it early. Thing is it was already crusted on top but still soft underneath, so the trowel just pushed those ridges into the wet layer below. Took them two extra days and a full bag of patch to fix it, plus the client watched the whole mess from the window.
