Foreman in Amarillo asked why I finish uphill, and now my edges look way better
Been finishing for 9 years and always worked my float uphill from the low side out of habit, until a foreman named Dale on a slab pour in Amarillo watched me for 5 minutes and asked why I was fighting the mud the whole way. Turns out pulling downhill lets the cream ride ahead of the float instead of dragging behind it, and my edges on that 40x60 shop slab came out night and day cleaner. Feels dumb that nobody called it out sooner, but nobody ever watched me close enough I guess. Any of you got a habit like that where someone finally pointed it out?
Worked concrete for years and honestly the direction thing feels overblown unless your mud is straight garbage. Half the time the mix or the sun messing with your cream matters way more than which way you drag a float. Dale might've just caught you on a good pour.
