Guy at a pour in Bakersfield told me to watch his hands, not the chute, and I finally got why my joints looked bad
I was finishing a 40 by 60 slab outside Bakersfield last Tuesday and this old finisher named Ray kept waving the truck driver off way early on every load. I asked him why and he said 'I don't watch the chute, I watch his hands on the lever, the mud tells you when it's ready.' Sure enough my edges came out way cleaner after I started doing the same thing and timing my float off how the mix sat instead of the clock. Has anyone else had an old timer put it that simple on you?
