Hot take: stamped concrete patterns are way overrated for residential driveways
I did a job last month in Greenville for a family that wanted a stamped cobblestone pattern on their whole driveway. After two winters that pattern is going to fade and crack around the imprints because the slab is only 4 inches thick like everyone pours. Why spend $12 extra per square foot on stamps when a good broom finish lasts longer and costs less? Has anyone else had homeowners regret the stamp job after a couple years?

@terryj45 A buddy of mine paid for that fancy stamp job and it chipped within a year. Pure regret.

Honestly, don't you think the whole stamped concrete look is just a short-term trend that'll feel dated in like five years anyway? Tbh, I've seen way too many driveways around here where the pattern wears down unevenly and just looks like a cheap imitation of real stone instead of a nice finished surface. Ngl, a simple brushed finish might not be fancy but it's honest and it holds up way better without all that extra cost and hassle.
