Noticed a big divide on when to apply sealer after a pour.

Some crews do it right away to protect the surface, but others wait to avoid trapping moisture. How do you all handle it?

My buddy Gary sealed a driveway way too early last summer. He was scared of rain stains and did it the same afternoon. The slab looked sweaty for days after, then the sealer turned all blotchy and started flaking off in patches by fall. Trapped all that moisture underneath like he was wrapping it in plastic. Had to strip it and redo the whole thing after it finally dried out months later.

Ever think about how the ground temp matters too? That hot afternoon sun might have baked the top layer dry but the cooler earth below was still pushing moisture up. Sealer sets up fast on a warm surface and basically locks in that rising damp. Seen it happen on pool decks where the coping feels dry but the slab underneath is still cold and sweating.

Why wait if the surface needs protection now?
