One bad pour taught me a lesson I won't forget
I was finishing a big driveway job over in Oakville last month when an old guy came by and started watching me work. He pointed at my mix and said 'that slump is gonna crack by dinner time.' I brushed him off but sure enough, 6 hours later I saw hairline fractures running through the whole slab. He was a retired finisher with 40 years experience and I should have listened. Has anyone else had a stranger show up and save them from a mistake?

Jumped right in to say I feel this one deep in my bones. I had a retired mason named Frank stop his truck one time just to tell me my forms were flexing on a patio job. I thought he was just being picky, but sure enough that corner sagged like a bad pancake by the next morning. @anthony_lane55 makes a solid point though about temp drops, I've definitely seen that sneak up on me too and blame my slump when it was really the weather playing tricks.

Hairline cracks in 6 hours sounds more like a shrinkage issue than a slump problem to me. Was the air temp dropping fast that day?
