Poured a slab in Raleigh last Tuesday and the rain caught me halfway through
I was finishing a 12x16 patio when the sky just opened up out of nowhere, no warning. Had to rush and cover it with plastic sheeting but the surface got all pitted from the raindrops before I could get the tarp on. Anyone got a trick for fixing rain damage on a fresh pour without having to grind the whole thing down?

Caught you completely off guard, huh? Honestly that's every concrete finisher's nightmare, you think you've got enough time and then the sky just dumps on you. Tbh I'd hit it with a light surface retarder and a gentle brush before it fully cures, takes the edge off those pits without needing to break out the grinder.

Are you sure it's really that bad though? I mean sure rain sucks but a little pitting on a patio slab isnt structural or anything. A lot of times after it cures and you walk on it a few times you barely even notice those marks. To me this is one of those things where you're staring at it right now cuz it's fresh but in 6 months you wont even remember it happened. Plus grinding or using retarders adds time and money and honestly for what. I'd just leave it unless it's like unbelievably bad.
