Pro tip: That perfect day last June with the power trowel saved 3 hours

Tbh most crews swear by early morning pours for cool weather but my best day ever was starting at 11 AM on a 94 degree afternoon in Phoenix. We had a 40 yard slab for a warehouse floor and the sun actually helped the concrete set faster so we could get the power trowel on it sooner. The finisher I work with was skeptical but we floated and troweled that whole thing by 4 PM without any cracking. Has anyone else had better luck pushing concrete in hot weather instead of fighting it?

Hell yeah, "sun actually helped the concrete set faster" is exactly what I'm talking about. I did a 50 yard parking lot pad in Vegas last August and we started at 10 AM when it was already pushing 100. The heat was brutal but that slab was hard enough to walk on by 1 PM, we had the power trowel running by 2 and were done before the sun started dipping. My old foreman always said you're asking for trouble pouring in hot weather but I swear that fast set saves you more time than you lose sweating through the morning.
