Rant: I finally realized the mistake in my joint spacing after 6 years
I used to think tighter joints were always better, so I set them every 8 feet on a big warehouse pad in Phoenix last spring. The foreman walked by and asked why I wasn't following the spec that said 12 feet max with fiber mesh. I argued about shrinkage, but he showed me the last two pours that cracked exactly at my seams. Turns out I was overthinking the math and causing more stress points, not less. Now I trust the engineers' numbers and check my notes before every layout. Has anyone else stuck to an old habit that bit them later on a job site?
