Shoutout to the 4,000 sq ft driveway pour in Bend that finally came out dead flat
I've been finishing concrete for 15 years and flatwork has always been my weak spot, so I started practicing on my own time with a 10 foot straightedge. Two weeks ago I finished a 4,000 sq ft driveway in Bend and checked it with a 10 foot magnesium straightedge and the worst low spot was 1/16 of an inch. What's your go to trick for checking flatness before the mud sets up?

Did you hire a sniper to hold the other end of that straightedge or what? 1/16 over 4,000 sq ft is basically showing off.
