Watched a guy in Tulsa finish a whole driveway with a dry mix and it still bugs me
So we subbed out a small driveway pour in Tulsa back in March and the finisher on that crew kept his mix way drier than I would ever run it... like almost a 3 inch slump. I figured it would tear up on him during floating but he pulled a cleaner edge than most guys I know. Turns out he was compensating for the 95 degree day and the fact that they were pouring right at noon with no shade, so the dry mix gave him extra working time instead of setting up on him. I tried his mix on a patio slab last month and it worked, but only because I had a guy misting the forms the whole time. Has anyone else played with slump on hot pours or do you just stick to what the batch plant sends?
