My uncle the flat earther actually made a good point about lake water levels

He was ranting about how water finds its level and then dropped a map showing Lake Pontchartrain's shoreline, and I spent 3 hours googling geodesy after that conversation. Has anyone else had a conspiracy talk that made you actually question basic geography?

Oh man I read something about this before. It's actually wild how the whole "water finds its level" thing gets oversimplified, like yeah it does but not instantly over huge distances cause of the earth's curve. Makes you wonder what other stuff we just accept without thinking about it lol.

Never actually thought about that angle until now @michael880. Tbh it's kinda wild how we treat basic physics like it's gospel without checking if it still holds up on a planet sized scale.
