Rant: the 3 a.m. flat earther at the Waffle House on I-75
Around 3 a.m. last Thursday, I stopped at a Waffle House outside Chattanooga and a guy in a camo jacket slides into my booth. He points at my coffee cup and tells me gravity is a NASA myth because his coffee stays put when he tilts it, and that's why the earth is flat. I tried to explain surface tension, but he just said I was 'brainwashed by the curve cult' and showed me a blurry photo of a lake he took from a dock. I asked him how GPS works on his phone and he said satellites are just balloons with 5G antennas, then offered me a pamphlet he printed at the library. Has anyone else had a stranger turn a breakfast run into an impromptu physics debate, and how did you get out of it without losing your appetite?

Just ask if he's ever watched a sunset from a plane window, that usually shuts them up long enough to eat.
