Showerthought: Ever notice how grocery store avocados went from always rock hard to always mushy in like 5 years?

I swear back in 2019 I could buy an avocado on Tuesday and it'd be perfect by Thursday, but now they skip the ripe window entirely and go straight to brown stringy guts, has anyone else noticed this shift or is my store just cursed?

My theory is they started picking them WAY too early so they'd ship without bruising, and the ripening process just got all messed up. Remember when bagged avocados were a RARE treat and now they're just sitting there like sad green baseballs on every shelf. Honestly at this point I just buy the frozen avocado chunks and call it a day.
