Someone on a forum told me my timeline was off and it fixed everything
I was deep into the JFK files rabbit hole, had this whole theory about Oswald's second shooter. A user named 'SkepticalSam' just said 'your times don't match the Bethesda records.' I went back, re-checked the Warren Commission appendix on page 87, and they were right. I was off by 14 minutes. Now I always triple-check my source timestamps before posting. Has anyone else had a small fact like that wreck a whole theory you were proud of?

My buddy Mark spent two months on a lost colony of Roanoke theory using old letters from the governor. Someone from a genealogy site pointed out he was using a transcription from the wrong century, not the actual 1590 records. He said it felt like building a sandcastle and watching the tide take it in one wave.

Spent three weeks building a theory about the moon landing being faked on soundstage 11, had all these light reflection angles mapped out. Then someone pointed out the original NASA photo catalog numbers didn't even have a stage 11. Entire theory collapsed like a bad souffle. Now I keep a little notebook where I write down the exact source URLs and timestamps before I get too excited. Nothing like a 14-minute discrepancy to make you feel like a conspiracy clown.
