A sparky on my job in Columbus said he scans every wall before he drills now, and it got me thinking
We were doing a rail install on a remodel down in German Village last month, and the electrician (nice guy, been at it 20-something yrs) pulled out his phone to check where the conduit was before putting a single hole in the wall. I asked why bother on a house from the 40s. He said he hit a live line in a reno off High Street a few yrs back and the homeowner had a security camera running, so it was all on video. I've been drilling blind for a long time and never thought twice. Now I'm wondering if I'm the dumb one. Any of you guys actually use a stud finder with the wire scan thing, or is it a waste of $60?
