Found a cheap way to test concrete moisture without buying a $300 meter
I was bidding a basement floor coating job in Akron last week and couldn't figure out why my moisture readings were all over the place. Tried the old plastic sheet taped to the floor trick but that takes days. Then a guy at the supply house told me to try calcium chloride test kits from the hardware store. Picked one up for like 15 bucks and it gave me a clear reading in 48 hours. Saved me from guessing on a 2000 square foot pour. Anyone else use these cheap kits instead of the expensive digital ones?

Plastic sheet trick is unreliable. Calcium chloride works but careful with temperature swings.

Tried that method myself @stella_lee and the temp swings really messed it up for me too.
