Talked with an older mason last week who said he uses a 3D laser scanner for layout now

He told me it cuts his setting time by half compared to string lines and tape measures, and I realize the old ways aren't always the best ways, so has anyone else had a veteran teach them a new tech trick that actually works?

Whoa okay wait hold up. How are they liking the accuracy of the laser compared to the string lines? I've heard some guys complain that the lasers can drift if the tripod gets bumped even a little bit, but I'm guessing the time saved makes up for it. Are they using it for everything or just the big layout stuff like foundations?

That battery life must be brutal if they're running it all day on a big pour.
