Took me 3 hours to figure out why my drone survey data wasn't lining up on a job near Nashville
Turns out the magnetic declination on my tablet was set to the wrong year by default and I only caught it after calibrating everything for the third time, has anyone else had that issue with older mapping apps?

You're overthinking it, user error is way more common than software bugs on older apps.

Oh man, this exact thing bit me hard last year with an old version of Mission Planner. Kept getting these weird offsets when mapping a soybean field and thought my GPS was dying or something. Finally found a buried settings menu where the magnetic variation was still set to 2015 data. It's such a dumb trap because you naturally blame hardware first, not some default date in the software. The frustrating part is those older apps don't give you any kind of warning or notification that your declination is stale. I bet half the "bad GPS" complaints I see on here are actually this same issue.
