I paid $20 for a lifetime pass to a forum nobody's posted on since 2009 and it still works

So back in March I was digging through some old links from a blog I used to read in high school, and I found this tiny forum called BackyardWeatherWatchers dot net. It's all people logging rain totals and posting pictures of their rain gauges from like 2004 to 2009. The site looked dead but had a little PayPal button saying $20 gets you lifetime access to the "premium boards." I laughed and paid it just to see what would happen. Turns out the boards are still up. There's a whole hidden section with 14 years of storm logs that the admin, some guy named Dale, still updates every single morning at 6am. Last post was yesterday. He wrote "0.12 inches, wind from the northeast, beans are coming in slow." I have checked it every day for two weeks now and I feel like I found a secret room in a house I have lived in forever. Has anybody else paid real money for a dead site and actually gotten something out of it?
